Frequently asked questions

We have listed the frequently asked questions about baseball and softball equipment for you here.

Which bases and plates are needed for a baseball field?

A baseball field consists of four bases, a home plate, and a pitcher's mound. These components define the baselines and playing positions and must comply with official guidelines, such as those of the KNBSB.

What is a double base in softball?

A double first base in softball is a 38 x 76 cm first base with a white and orange section. This ensures that fielders and runners each use their own part, reducing the chance of collisions.

Does SKOR also supply backstops for baseball and softball fields?

Yes, foul poles for baseball and softball fields are available. These can optionally be equipped with lighting, so that the field is also playable in the evening hours.

How are bases and home plates secured in a baseball field?

Hunks and plates are secured with ground anchors. This ensures they are firmly fixed in the subsurface, but can also be easily removed or replaced if necessary.

What requirements must foul poles meet in baseball?

According to the guidelines, baseball foul poles must have a minimum diameter of 10 cm and be at least 5 meters high. In addition, they must extend at least 1 meter above the outfield fence for good visibility.

At SKOR, we offer a wide range of high-quality materials for baseball and softball, from foul poles to home plates. Our products are designed for long-term use and provide a modern look for your sports complex.

Baseball and softball equipment for a complete playing field

For a well-equipped baseball or softball field, the right baseball and softball equipment is essential. These field components determine the layout and markings of the playing field and must comply with the guidelines of the sports federation.

SKOR supplies baseball and softball equipment suitable for sports clubs, municipalities, and contractors who construct or maintain sports fields. The products are designed for durable use and align with the reality of intensively used sports fields.

Range of baseball and softball equipment

Within the SKOR range, you will find various products for equipping baseball and softball fields. This includes bases, home plates, pitching plates, and foul poles. These materials are used in the construction and renovation of sports fields and form the basis of a well-functioning baseball or softball field.

Bases for baseball and softball

The bases are an essential part of the playing field and must be placed firmly and stably. All SKOR bases are equipped with anchors, allowing them to be easily and securely fixed in the field. This ensures that the bases remain in place during practices and games.

Home plates and pitching plates

In addition to bases, SKOR also supplies home plates and pitching plates. These plates are part of the permanent field setup and are placed according to current guidelines. Like the bases, the plates are also equipped with anchors, so they can be securely and flush mounted in the playing field.

Foul poles

The foul poles mark the boundaries of the playing field. These poles must meet specific requirements according to the guidelines of the KNBSB.

For example, foul poles must have a minimum diameter of 10 cm and a height of at least 5 meters. In addition, they must extend at least 1 meter above the outfield fence. Foul poles are available in yellow or yellow-black, depending on the application and the level of the games.

Dimensions and guidelines for bases and plates

When equipping a baseball or softball field, specific requirements apply to the dimensions and placement of the field components.

  • The home plate has a five-sided shape and must be level with the field's surface. The point of the plate lies at the intersection of the foul lines.
  • The pitching plate has a rectangular shape of 15.2 x 61 cm and is, like the home plate, installed flush with the field.
  • The bases measure 38 x 38 cm and lie on the field's surface. In softball, a double base (38 x 76 cm) with an orange-white color scheme is used for first base. This helps to prevent collisions between players.

All SKOR bases and plates are equipped with anchors, allowing them to be easily and securely placed.

Baseball and softball dugouts for a complete field setup

In addition to baseball and softball equipment for the playing field itself, good facilities along the sideline are also essential. With a baseball or softball dugout, you create a sheltered and organized space for players, coaches, and support staff during games and practices.

By combining dugouts with bases, plates, and foul poles, a complete and professionally equipped baseball or softball field is created that meets the requirements for practices and games.
