Instructions for use of the SKOR hammer throw cage

Hoisting the hammer throw cage net

1. For each upright, check that the net is correctly attached to the steel cable.
2. Hoist the net evenly using the winch.

Tip: Working alone? Then hoist the net step-by-step per upright: first to about ¼, then ½, ¾, and then fully up.

Pre-use check

After hoisting, check that the cage can be used safely:

• Is the net sufficiently taut, so that the pole cannot be hit by a discus or shot?
• If necessary, re-tension the net with the carabiners on the ground cable.
• Is the vertical steel cable of the door taut? Re-tension it if necessary.

Always remedy any defects before the cage is used.

Lowering the hammer throw cage net

1. Hold the lock up to release the steel cable.
2. Pull the net down calmly and in a controlled manner.

Tip: Working alone? Then lower the net step-by-step per upright: first to about ¾, then ½, ¼, and then fully down.

Post-use check

After lowering, check that the cage has been left tidy and safe:

• Is the net still intact?
• Are the steel cables at all uprights properly tensioned?
