Meeting Park Amsterdam – Plot 18

In collaboration with the Municipality of Amsterdam, SKOR has created a public sports and meeting place at Plot 18 in Buiksloterham, Amsterdam-Noord. This location is part of a larger redevelopment area where a former industrial zone is being transformed into a sustainable and circular urban district. Within this development, sports and exercise play an important role. The meeting park is designed as an accessible place where residents and visitors can meet, play sports together, and actively use the public space. For this project, SKOR has realized several sports facilities, including a calisthenics setup, a beach volleyball court, a teqball table, and a football pitch. Together, these elements form a versatile sports area suitable for various target groups and ages.

Calisthenics

An important part of the meeting park is the calisthenics setup. Calisthenics is a form of training where athletes use their own body weight to develop strength, balance, and coordination.

The installation consists of various training components such as pull-up bars, parallel bars, and other functional elements, allowing for a wide range of exercises. This means that both novice athletes and advanced users can train there.

Because the setup is in a public space, it is freely accessible and encourages residents to exercise in an accessible way. The robust construction and durable materials ensure that the installation can withstand intensive use in a public environment.

Beach volleyball court

Next to the calisthenics setup, a beach volleyball court has been constructed. Beach volleyball is a popular sport that fits well within a public sports environment because it can be played recreationally as well as competitively.

The court features a sand surface and a volleyball net installation, making it suitable for both informal matches and recreational use by local residents. The open nature of the court creates a social space where sports and encounters come together.

The beach court contributes to the vibrancy of the public space and offers residents an attractive opportunity to exercise outdoors.

Teqball table

A teqball table has also been placed within the meeting park. Teqball is a relatively new sport that combines elements of football, table tennis, and technical training.

The curved table allows for various game forms to be played with a football, focusing on technique, ball control, and reaction speed. The teqball table is suitable for recreational use as well as for athletes who want to improve their technique.

Because the table is compact and easy to use, it forms an accessible play element within the park where people can spontaneously play a game.

Football pitch

The football pitch forms an important part of the sports facilities at Plot 18. Football remains one of the most accessible sports in public spaces and often attracts a wide range of users.

The pitch provides space for informal matches and free play, contributing to an active use of the outdoor space. The combination with the other sports facilities creates a multifunctional sports area where various activities can take place alongside each other.

A sporting meeting place in the neighborhood

With the realization of these sports facilities, SKOR contributes to a public space where movement, meeting, and playing sports together are central. The meeting park at Plot 18 thus forms a valuable addition to the new residential area of Buiksloterham and encourages residents to actively use their living environment.

By combining different forms of sport, a versatile place is created where young and old can come together and where sport plays a connecting role within the neighborhood.
