What is the difference between a take-off board and a plasticine indicator board?

A take-off board is a white plank from which an athlete must take off. The plasticine indicator board (foul board) is located immediately behind the take-off board and leaves an imprint if the athlete steps over the line.

Long jump and triple jump

Long jump and triple jump are technically demanding disciplines within athletics. For safe execution and reliable performance, a professionally equipped facility is essential. SKOR supplies high-quality long jump facilities and triple jump provisions. These materials are suitable for training, competitions, and multi-functional sports venues. Curious about what we can do for you? Read on.

Difference between long jump and triple jump?

Although both jumping disciplines end in a sandpit, the techniques differ greatly. In long jump, the athlete takes off from a long jump take-off board after a long run-up and lands in one jump.

In triple jump, the athlete performs a sequence of three consecutive movements: a hop, a step, and a jump. This places different demands on the run-up and take-off. SKOR considers these differences when designing both jumping events, with specific attention to a stable and well-placed long jump take-off board.

Long jump

Long jump is all about speed, explosiveness, and a precise take-off. The run-up track must be at least 40 meters long and provide good grip. One meter before the sandpit is a long jump take-off board, from which the athlete takes off. Behind this board, there is usually a plasticine strip. This makes foul jumps visible through a clear footprint. SKOR supplies complete long jump facilities that meet the requirements of World Athletics.

Triple jump

Triple jump, also known as hop, step, and jump, is a discipline in which the athlete performs three consecutive movements. This discipline also uses a take-off board with a plasticine strip. In triple jump, the athlete must land on the same leg as they took off from. This requires a long run-up and a precisely placed take-off zone.

SKOR's range for long jump and triple jump

For long jump and triple jump, relatively few materials are needed compared to other athletic disciplines. SKOR supplies a carefully selected range for long jump and triple jump:

  • Take-off board: double-sided plastic take-off board for long jump and triple jump. The white side is used for long jump, the red side for triple jump. The lightweight board (122 x 34 x 10 cm) offers maximum stability and meets the certification requirements of World Athletics.
  • Ground frame for take-off board: aluminum ground frame (122 x 34 x 10 cm) that ensures a seamless connection to the long jump take-off board. The open bottom construction provides optimal drainage. The ground frame is fully welded, so you do not receive a kit.
  • Blind board: used as an alternative to the take-off board during technical training or when the take-off board is temporarily removed for maintenance.

Safety and certifications

At SKOR, safety always comes first. Our facilities comply with the applicable international standards, as set by World Athletics (WA). This means that the products are suitable for official competitions and championships. Dimensions, materials, and finishes are tailored to professional use. This ensures a safe and durable sports facility.

Although our products are made for long-term use, it is important to regularly check long jump and triple jump facilities. Check for wear or damage to prevent further problems.

Combination with other athletic disciplines

Long jump and triple jump are often part of a complete athletics facility. SKOR offers a total range for all disciplines, including pole vaultdiscus throwsteeplechase, and hammer throw. Thanks to our expertise, we technically and visually align all elements perfectly. We deliver durable, safe, and professionally integrated solutions.
