At Baarnse Mixed Hockey Vereniging, it has been about more than just hockey for years. The club is deeply rooted in Baarn, with a rich history, many committed people, and facilities that are constantly being developed. BMHV shows how an association can retain its familiar character while simultaneously looking ahead.
Within the club, engagement is high. The foundation responsible for the fields, clubhouse, materials, and investments in the facilities actively contributes to discussions about the future of BMHV.
A club that thrives on commitment
BMHV has between 1000 and 1100 members and relies heavily on volunteers. Almost everyone contributes in their own way. That says a lot about the character of the association. BMHV is a club where fun, passion, and performance go hand in hand.
This commitment is evident at all levels. A great example is Ed van de Pol, the club's 84-year-old groundsman. He is there every day, ensuring that everything in and around the facilities is tidy. It is precisely these kinds of people who add character to the association.
Where fun, passion, and performance come together
That family feeling is also reflected in the way parents are part of club life. They coach teams, drive to games, and umpire matches. At the same time, there is ample room for sporting ambition. Within BMHV, there is a belief that everyone should be able to perform at their own level. Recreational hockey is important, but the performance teams also receive the appropriate attention.
A lively sports park in a central location
According to BMHV, the club's location is one of its major advantages. The view over the fields, the proximity of the terrace, and the central position within the sports park ensure that sport and camaraderie are closely linked here. Especially on match days, the club is buzzing with activity.
The facilities are also intensively used during the week. There are daily training sessions, gym classes for the Baarns Lyceum, and on Mondays even district training sessions by the association. The central location in the Netherlands makes BMHV particularly suitable for this.
An association that moves with the times
At BMHV, it is clear that sports behavior is changing. That is why the club is actively thinking about more flexible forms of sport. This broader perspective is also reflected in the development of the sports park.
In addition to the hockey club, there are also athletics, BMX, and football clubs located there. A pump track will be built, a skate park has been laid out, and BMHV also has a fitness container on site. With this, the club aims to create more experiences around sports and make the offering more attractive to a wider group of users, including parents.
Room to grow
The club's growth also brought a practical challenge: capacity. BMHV had three pitches for a long time, but was actually one pitch short. From the municipality's future vision and the broader development of the sports park, BMHV had the opportunity to expand with an additional hockey pitch. An important step, as extra space is essential for a club of this size.
Collaborating with SKOR
Contact with SKOR arose from previous collaborations and through known parties within the hockey world. During the construction of the new pitch, there was also direct contact with SKOR about additional furnishings and components.
What is particularly appreciated within BMHV is that the materials look good, are solid, and fit the current times. According to the club, this is immediately reflected on the new pitch, with, among other things, the dugouts, EHL goals, elevated stands, and pitch grippers. Smaller materials such as corner flags and training goals also contribute to a complete and well-maintained appearance of the facility.
Reliable materials for daily use
At BMHV, materials are used intensively. Goals are moved, practice goals are in continuous use and not everything is always handled with care. That's when ease of use is important. But just as important is the robustness of the products. At a busy sports park, equipment simply has to be able to take a beating.
In this, BMHV also sees the value of a specialized party like SKOR. Not only for the initial delivery, but also for replacement and spare parts. If something breaks or needs to be replenished, it is reassuring to be able to rely on a supplier who understands sports materials and can quickly offer the right solution.
