In collaboration with the Municipality of Amsterdam, SKOR has created a unique public sports area on Plot 18 in Buiksloterham, Amsterdam-Noord. This location is part of a larger redevelopment area where the former industrial zone is gradually being transformed into a sustainable and circular urban district. The sports facilities on Plot 18 have now been completed and form an important meeting place within this new district.
The challenge
Buiksloterham is undergoing a complete transformation. The municipality of Amsterdam is working on redeveloping the area into a modern, circular urban district. Within this context, there was a need for a public space that directly contributes to the liveability of the neighborhood.
The municipality was looking for a functional and inviting design for Plot 18: a place where residents can exercise, relax, and meet each other.
Our solution
In close cooperation with the municipality, SKOR has furnished the area with a mix of sports and exercise facilities that meet the needs of the neighborhood. A Teqball table, a CrossFit station, and a beach volleyball court have already been installed. This has created an accessible and attractive sports environment that encourages both exercise and social interaction.
Soon, a new football field will be constructed, further expanding the offerings. The public space at Plot 18 is therefore already a vibrant hub in the district.
